ENO launches sales of intelligent early warning technology for forest protection. With the distribution of its "Forest Guardian" technology, the development company Niederschlesische Oberlausitz mbH (ENO) expands its offerings for forest owners, forestry operations, municipalities, and other stakeholders in forest protection.
The innovative solution combines modern camera technology, artificial intelligence and powerful communication networks to create an intelligent early warning system for the timely detection of forest fires.
Every minute counts
Rising temperatures and prolonged periods of drought increase the risk of forest fires. Often, just a few minutes determine whether a small fire can be quickly contained or develops into a large-scale wildfire. This is precisely where Forest Guardian comes in: The AI continuously analyzes real-time images and detects smoke and fire events in their early stages. At the same time, location data is determined, and those responsible and emergency services are informed promptly.
Modern technology for the forest of tomorrow
The system offers 360° monitoring of large forest areas with programmable camera gimbals and can be optionally expanded with multispectral sensors. A central web application provides real-time images, map displays, and analysis functions. Thanks to its modular architecture, Waldwächter can be expanded in the future to include features such as drone integration, digital forest models, or pest monitoring applications.
The technology was developed as part of the research project “5G-Forest Guardian” together with partners from science, research and practice and was awarded the Saxon Digital Prize in the Society category in 2024.
ENO is bringing the technology to the region
With the launch of sales, ENO aims to increasingly introduce its Forest Guardian technology to forest owners, forestry administrations, municipalities, fire departments, and infrastructure and energy providers. Plans include product presentations at trade fairs, participation in information events, and targeted outreach to potential customers. The goal is to raise awareness of modern technologies for climate-adapted forest protection and to provide expert support to interested parties in selecting and implementing the solution.
